The popular Tadanori Yokoo "CLIMAX" design has had an artist approved makeover!
The original design, released in December 2023, stayed very true to the artist's original vision and features challenging (potentially triggering) imagery on the back of the design. As such, it is not for everyone, and it is tricky to limit the context of who sees a garment.
Happily, Yokoo and his team generously agreed to an alternate version. We hope you like it!
Japan in the 60’s. Revolution is in the air. Students and left-wing militants clash violently with the cops while a new wave of artists, musicians, and filmmakers are breaking every taboo there is. Into this heady mix steps 29 year old Tadanori Yokoo.
What better way to celebrate the remarkable career of the still active Yokoo, than this WAH-WAH collaboration featuring some of the artist’s most iconic designs. Traditional Japanese elements boldly combine with startling psychedelic designs: this is sex and death on acid. ‘What I love most,’ says Yokoo, ‘is the absurd image which defies all explanations’. WAH-WAH fully concurs, but we also think that by wearing this jumper, a lot of fun can be had watching people try!
